TEETH FILLING: POST TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Now that your new fillings have been placed there are a few directions you need to follow.
First, be sure that the local anesthetic has completely worn off before chewing. This is to prevent you from biting or injuring your lip, cheeks or tongue. Also, refrain from drinking anything hot in temperature or smoking to prevent burning. Sometimes patients also find it difficult to swallow while they are still numb, so please be careful.
Pearl Dental Clinic only places tooth colored resin-type fillings. These fillings are completely hardened when you leave the office. You can eat on them as soon as the numbness wears off. Although the fillings are polished before you leave, they may feel slightly gritty at first. This should go away after a couple of days. If not please call back.

After receiving a dental filling:

  • Do not eat for one hour or until your numbness is gone.
  • Do not bite on numb lips or tongue.
  • Please supervise children carefully to ensure that they do not injure their soft tissues.
  • If you received a silver (amalgam) filling, do not bite hard or chew on the filling for 24 hours.
  • You may experience sensitivity to heat and cold and some gum soreness; this will subside within a few days.
Immediate post-visit cold sensitivity is also possible. This is usually from a normal reaction of the nerve following the procedure. Give it a couple of days and try a sensitivity protection toothpaste until it subsides.
Your new filling does not require any additional care other than daily brushing and flossing. Be sure your toothpaste contains fluoride.

DENTAL MASTERS: Dental Implant cost and bad breath !!

Dental implants use metal posts or frames to surgically position artificial teeth into your jawbone. Because they fuse to your jawbone, they become virtually a permanent and secure part of mouth. Unlike dentures and bridges, implants stay in place so you don’t have to worry about your teeth moving as you eat or speak. Implants feel more natural than dentures, and a professional cosmetic dentist in Houston, TX, can ensure smile perfection. However, there’s a potential downside to dental implants. They can cause bad breath. The good news is bad breath caused by dental implants is fixable! In most instances, bad breath in people with dental implants is caused by an infection. But sometimes, the signs of the infection can be subtle. The signs can be as subtle as a bad taste in your mouth, bleeding gums, or gum swelling.

RAMADAN AND MISWAK: ASK THE DENTIST

Ramadan is almost here, which means it's time to stock up on miswak! What is Miswak? Well, miswak is a twig that helps in cleaning teeth and has been used for this purpose for over 7000 years now! (Faint recollections of people in rural areas with a ‘stick’ in their mouths early in the mornings? Yes, now you get it). Combining the functions of a toothbrush and toothpaste, Miswak’s antibacterial properties have saved many a people from cases of dreadful tooth decay and worse across the centuries. Reportedly, Miswak stick has been in use right since the time of the ancient Babylonians and Egyptians.  If you're a new user, the miswak might look intimidating, but using it is as easy as 1, 2, 3! 1: Peel 1cm of the outer layer,  2: Separate the bristles with your teeth or thumb, 3: Brush! # Miswak   # AskTheDentist   # RamadanKareem   # DubaiRamadan   # Fasting # DentalTips   # RamadanTips   # FriendlyDentist   # Best...
